Alan Crone Explains Why Businesses Should Prepare to Pay More Overtime Wages

READ MORE by: Andy Medici

Overtime lawyer Alan Crone has been featured in The Business Journals talking about how business owners will need to pay more overtime wages. The more people that are working from home, the harder it will be to accurately measure hourly work. The Fair Labor Standards Act, FLSA, states that a person must be paid time and a half for every hour worked over 40 hours in a week. That’s for all people that aren’t exempt according to the law.

Alan was quoted in the story stating, “The FLSA was a depression-era statute to help the economy and increase the amount of people in the workforce. When it was written they expected people to punch clocks at a factory. It’s not designed for the workforce of the 60s and much less the workforce of 2023.”
